Maxillaria friedrichsthalii, also known as Friedrichsthal's Maxillaria, is indeed a remarkable species within the Maxillaria genus. Described by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach in 1852, this orchid species spans a wide natural habitat, from Southern Mexico to Western Colombia. Thriving in the lush, wet montane forests across regions like Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico Southeast and Southwest, Nicaragua, and Panama, it finds its niche in these diverse landscapes.
Blooming typically during the spring and summer, Maxillaria friedrichsthalii boasts single flowers that emerge from the sheath of a mature pseudobulb, with inflorescences reaching up to 3.5 cm in length.
